Fenix raises SEK 69m in new capital

The digital funeral home Fenix has conducted 10,000 funerals in Sweden and the UK. Now it's aiming to expand to more countries - and fill its coffers with SEK 69 million. "In Sweden, we have a business that is growing profitably," says Fenix co-founder Charlotte Runius.

Last autumn, Fenix filled its coffers with SEK 30 million in preparation for an expansion into the UK. So far it has rolled out in London, but now the aim is to establish itself in the counties around the capital as well as Manchester, Birmingham and the Liverpool area. According to Charlotte Runius, this will bring the company to just under a third of the addressable market in England.

"This year, our main goal is to really take England as a market," she says.

To help them, they are now filling their coffers with SEK 69 million. The round is led by Zaal Management but also includes existing investors such as Brightly Ventures and several smaller shareholders.
